Former Tennessee wide receiver Joey Kent joined Sports180 on Thursday.

Kent holds several receiving records at UT, including most receptions (183), receiving yards (2,814) and receiving touchdowns (25) in a career.

Kent said he’s been impressed with UT freshman receiver Justin Hunter, who happens to wear the same jersey number (11) that Kent wore from 1993-96. That’s another reason Kent has high expectations for Hunter.

“I hope he breaks all my records,” Kent said, “because if he does that that means we’re winning. I think he has that ability to be one of the all-time great receivers to wear that orange.”

What about the all-time best receiver to wear No. 11?

“He’s wearing a number that means a lot to me,” Kent said. “I don’t have any idea if he knows anything about me or about that number and how special it is to me personally, but he has a bright future. I think he’s going to be one of the those guys we talk about for a long time.”

Kent talked more about his playing days at UT, the Vols’ rivalry with Alabama and the future of the program under coach Derek Dooley. Listen below.
